Network Installation
Important Peer-to-peer networking does NOT meet our requirements.
Only networks with a dedicated true file server meet our requirements. Required network software includes Novell Netware 5.0 (5.1 recommended), Windows NT Server 4.0 (service pack 6 or higher) or Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
We cannot provide technical support for peer-to-peer environments or other network environments that do not meet our requirements.
Do not mix client drivers. Choose either Novell Client 32 (version 3.3 or higher) or Microsoft's built-in clients (do not use Microsoft's Novell clients-Novell networks require Novell client software). Use the same driver on every workstation. • Your server must be at least a Pentium III-866 with at least 256 MB of RAM (512 MB recommended) and 800 MB of available hard drive space. (If you plan on running Xactware 2001 on the server as well, you will need one GB on its hard drive.) Please refer to the attached diagram for further details. If you have additional questions concerning your particular file server, please contact our Technical Support Team for clarification.
• Each and every computer on which Xactware 2001 is installed must meet all of the system requirements listed in "Stand-Alone or Network Workstation Installation" on the previous page.
• Your network hardware must be 100Base-T with Category 5 Unshielded Twisted-Pair (UTP) cable throughout (all network connections).
• At least one of the computers on the network needs to have Internet access.
• Never install Xactware 2001 to the root directory of a drive. Always create a subdirectory or folder to install to. We suggest that you install to the default path of X:\Xactware (where X: is the shared network drive).
• Always use the same network data path for both the network install and each workstation install. For example, if you use the path X:\Xactware for the network install, be sure to use the exact same path as you install to the different workstations.
The 2002 Install/Update process will check your computer for compliance with the above system requirements. Computers not meeting the minimum supported requirements will not be allowed to proceed with the Install/Update process.
