About the courseFlat roofs are rarely truly flat. Most have a slight slope that channels water to roof drains. This lesson covers the membrane style of roof that is needed for a flat roof. The lesson begins with the parts of a flat roof and how the system drains moisture. This includes creating a slight slope to the drain, drains and scuppers, parapet walls, and cant strips. Next, the types of membrane-style roofs are covered. This includes multi-ply "hot-mop" systems and single-ply modified bitumen and elastomeric systems.
