Record year for Canadian rainfall – Xactware Support
Floods continued to bedevil Canada this week, and Xactware is dedicated to providing the necessary resources to meet the needs of our customers who are responding to these catastrophic events.
On Monday, July 8, Toronto experienced the wettest day in recorded history, as 126 mm of rain fell in just seven hours, breaking the previous record which was set when Hurricane Hazel hit the city in 1954. The rainfall flooded thousands of basements, stranded commuters and brought down power lines throughout the city.
In the meantime, many communities in Alberta continue to assess the damage left by the worst flooding in the province’s history, triggered by the massive rainfall which started June 20. Residents of Calgary’s High River neighbourhood were only allowed back into their homes on Tuesday, July 9. Others are still unable to return home because their houses remain partially underwater or are unsafe.
Xactware is ready with the following resources:
Xactware's Pricing Data Services are closely monitoring the areas affected by these floods and their impact on construction costs. Interim pricing lists will be released as needed to support restoration efforts.
Xactware will notify customers via email if new price lists are needed. If no interim price lists are published, customers should expect that all price changes reflecting any demand surge as a result of the storm will be included in the standard price list publications released each month.
Throughout the clean-up and repair process, we will survey each affected market to stay abreast of any demand surge and resulting price changes; we will report changes as they occur.
