Pricing research for the June 2010 publication shows the Labor and Material report, which measures common material and labor used in claims and remodeling, increased in both the United States and Canada. The Billable Retail Labor Rates report decreased slightly in the United States and increased slightly in Canada. Increases in the Common Material Only report were driven mainly by lumber. The Common Lumber Material report shows a 7.21 percent increase in the United States and a 6.98 percent increase in Canada. When compared with March 2010, the United States shows a 20.58 percent increase, and Canada shows an 18.73 percent increase over the past three months. Lumber mills have been decreasing production to match low demand related to the stagnant construction industry. As a result, this has affected lumber costs. The 30-year Shingle Labor and Material and Material Only reports show an increase in the United States and Canada. The ½” installed drywall report decreased in the United States and increased in Canada. The information reported here is based on a national average, and it is important to note that actual changes will vary within each individual pricing market.
It is also important to remember Xactware’s published pricing information is based on recently completed surveys and estimate transactions.
Local market conditions
Xactware makes every effort to ensure pricing information contained in this update represents market costs at the time of publication. Since actual market prices can vary and may change rapidly, and since many factors can affect the cost of a project (including — but not limited to — labor, equipment, and material costs as well as the rates and application of sales tax), we strongly recommend customers monitor their local markets for any changes and adjust their estimate pricing as deemed appropriate.
Please report any price changes to Xactware as soon as possible. We will then adjust any information that can be independently verified for inclusion in future price list publications. Gasoline prices decrease in the U.S. and Canada
Since the May 2010 publication, gasoline prices have decreased 2.63 percent in the United States and 4.40 percent in Canada. It is common for fuel prices to increase around Memorial Day, but this year we are seeing them decrease. Because gasoline prices can change rapidly, Xactware advises users to monitor their local costs to determine whether repair or construction costs have been affected.
For further details, see the U.S. Department of Energy website at: www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_history.html.
Comparative prices (national averages) for the last month are as follows:
|Apr 26||May 24||Apr 27||May 25|
|Gasoline National Average||$2.815||$2.741||$1.045||$0.999|
