Xactware Releases Property Report for the United Kingdom
Year-end report discusses trends for common construction costs in 2010
Xactware’s second annual Property Report for the United Kingdom shows that worldwide trends continued to have a distinct influence on many building and labour costs in 2010.
As an international leader in pricing data services and claims estimating solutions, Xactware compiles annual year-end reports that give builders and insurers insight into major trends. The 2010 Property Report for the United Kingdom provides information on rate changes that occurred in nine regions of the United Kingdom.
“Worldwide shortages of some materials, often caused by demand from expanding economies such as China and India, led to some cost increases in 2010,” said Vernon Davenport, Xactware’s director of European Operations. “Other costs were down as a tepid economy continued to reduce demand for construction materials in the U.K.”
Xactware’s London-based pricing experts gathered and analysed the data contained in the 2010 Property Report for the United Kingdom. The team collected more than 355,000 data points from live property estimates and researched more than 125,000 material, plant, and labour data points to ensure a high degree of reliability in the property report.
Findings in the report include:
- labour trends by region and trade (such as electrician, bricklayer, and plumber)
- the effect of global market conditions on plumbing and emulsion costs
- rate changes for wood flooring
- shifts in plasterboard prices
- rate changes for paint products
- the effect of demand on ceramic tile costs
“Reliable, validated information is becoming increasingly important for professionals in the construction and insurance sectors,” said Davenport. “The 2010 Property Report for the United Kingdom can help professionals spot trends and changing conditions and make informed decisions in a tough business climate.”
