The April 2010 price list updates for more than 460 regions in the United States and Canada are now available for download.

Billable Labor Rates -0.09% -0.02%

The Billable Retail Labor Rates report shows a slight decrease for the United States and a slight increase for Canada. The Common Material Only report shows increases that are mainly driven by lumber and drywall. The 25-year Shingle Labor and Material reports show a slight increase, and. the 25-year Shingle Material Only report shows a more moderate increase. The ½” installed drywall report shows an increase that is mainly driven by material price increases. The information contained here is based on a national average, and it is important to note that actual changes will vary within each individual pricing market.

It is also important to remember Xactware’s published pricing information is based on recently completed surveys and estimate transactions.

Local market conditions

Xactware makes every effort to ensure pricing information contained in this update represents market costs at the time of publication. Since actual market prices can vary and may change rapidly, and since many factors can affect the cost of a project (including — but not limited to — labor, equipment, and material costs as well as the rates and application of sales tax), we strongly recommend customers monitor their local markets for any changes and adjust their estimate pricing as deemed appropriate.

Pricing feedback

Please report any price changes to Xactware as soon as possible. We will then adjust any information that can be independently verified for inclusion in future price list publications. Gasoline prices increase in the U.S. and decrease in Canada

Since the March 2010 publication, gasoline prices have increased 6.52 percent in the United States and decreased 1.65 percent in Canada. Because gasoline prices can change rapidly, Xactware recommends users monitor their local costs to determine whether repair or construction costs have been affected.

For further details, see the U.S. Department of Energy website at: www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_history.html.

New Hazardous Material Remediation Category

Beginning with the April 2010 publication, price list updates will include a category of items for Hazardous Material Remediation. This new category contains items specifically related to hazardous material remediation such as asbestos, lead paint, mold, and much more to provide a single location within the price lists where users can estimate containment barriers, personal protective gear, negative air, HEPA vacuuming, and more, as well as hazardous material testing fees. Many of these items currently exist in the Water Extraction and Remediation (WTR) category, which has grown over the past several years to include tasks related to more than just water-related loss remediation. The Water Extraction and Remediation category will still contain items related to the various categories of water loss remediation and mitigation. Beginning with the April price list publication, however, certain items that can be used to remediate losses related to other hazardous materials will be moved or duplicated into the new HMR category.
