January 2012 Price List Update Now Available
The January 2012 price list updates for more than 460 regions in the United States and Canada are now available for download.
On Jan. 2, manufacturers announced increases for wholesale drywall prices. The January price list publication reflects information from surveys conducted with retail vendors in the last two weeks of December and does not take in to account price increases that occur after the time of this publication. We are continuing to monitor market prices and will report any changes in drywall material pricing as they occur at the retail level, possibly within an interim price list publication. In the meantime, we recommend that users verify and, if warranted, modify drywall material pricing within their estimates.
A summary of price changes reported in this update are as follows (national average changes, which have been reported since the December 2011 price list publication and over the last 12 months):
|Dec to Jan||Last Year|
|Common Labor and Material||0.04%||0.16%||1.39%||1.05%|
|Retail Labor Rates||-0.09%||-0.02%||1.15%||0.89%|
|Common Material Only||0.05%||0.17%||1.12%||0.87%|
|Common Lumber Material||0.21%||0.47%||-0.32%||-0.78%|
|30-yr. Laminated Shingle Labor and Material||-0.71%||-0.81%||7.79%||-3.97%|
Pricing research for the January 2012 publication compared to December 2011 shows the Labor and Material report, which measures common material and labor used in claims and remodeling, increased slightly in the United States and Canada. The Retail Labor Rates report decreased in both countries. The Common Material Only and Common Lumber Material reports rose across North America. The 30-Year Laminated Shingle Labor and Material report fell in the United States and Canada. The information reported here is based on a national average, and it is important to note that actual changes will vary within each individual pricing market.
It is also important to remember Xactware's published pricing information is based on recently completed surveys and estimate transactions.
Local market conditions
Xactware makes every effort to ensure pricing information contained in this update represents market costs at the time of publication. Since actual market prices can vary and change rapidly, and since many factors can affect the cost of a project (including — but not limited to — labor, equipment, and material costs as well as the rates and application of sales tax), we strongly recommend customers monitor their local markets for any such changes and adjust their estimate pricing as deemed appropriate.
Please report any price changes to Xactware as soon as possible. We will then adjust any information that can be independently verified for inclusion in future price list publications. Pricing feedback can be submitted from Xactimate and online at https://www.xactanalysis.com/. You can also send emails directly to Xactware's Pricing Team at:

Gasoline prices decrease in the U.S. and Canada
Since the December 2011 publication, gasoline prices have decreased 1.48 percent in the United States and 0.17 percent in Canada. Over the last year, gasoline prices have increased 6.75 percent in the United States and 5.40 percent in Canada. Because gasoline prices can change rapidly, Xactware recommends users monitor their local costs to determine whether repair or construction costs have been affected.
