Xactware Publishes August 2013 Price List

 — Thursday, August 1, 2013 —

The August 2013 price list updates for more than 460 regions in the United States and Canada are now available for download.

A summary of price changes reported in this update are as follows (this percent change is based on the national averages that have been reported since the July 2013 price list publication and from August 2012 to August 2013):

July to Aug.

Aug. 2012 to Aug. 2013

30-yr. Laminated Shingle Labor and Material

Common Drywall Materials

Common Labor and Material

Common Lumber Material

Common Material Only

Retail Labor Rates

Pricing research for the August 2013 publication, when compared to July 2013, shows the Labor and Material report, which measures common material and labor used in claims and remodeling, increased in both the United States and Canada. In addition, the Retail Labor and the 30-year Laminated Shingle Labor and Material reports also increased in the United States and Canada. The Common Lumber Material report increased in the United States but decreased in Canada while the Common Material Only report decreased in the United States and increased in Canada. The Common Drywall Materials report showed no change in both the United States and Canada.

The information reported here is based on a national average, and it is important to note that actual changes will vary within each individual pricing market. It is also important to remember Xactware’s published pricing information is based on recently completed surveys and estimate transactions.

Local market conditions

Xactware makes every effort to ensure pricing information contained in this update represents market costs at the time of publication. Since actual market prices can vary and change rapidly, and since many factors can affect the cost of a project (including — but not limited to — labor, equipment, and material costs as well as the rates and application of sales tax), we strongly recommend customers monitor their local markets for any such changes and adjust their estimate pricing as deemed appropriate.

Important information for Xactimate users who have not updated to version 28

With the publication of the August 2013 price list, Xactware has completed the transition from base service charges to labor minimums. As you know, this transition has been occurring since February of this year, and more information about the change can be found at Xactware.com/laborminimums.

A new 31-day extension before Base Service Charges are set to zero

Previous communications from Xactware have indicated that Base Service Charges will be set to zero with the publication of the August price list on Aug. 1. Xactware has extended this date by 31 days until Sept. 1 with the publication of the September price list. This means that data for Base Service Charges will still be available with the August price list but will be set to zero upon the release of the September price list and in all subsequent price lists. It’s important to note that Xactware does not recommend the use of Base Service Charges with the August price list without manual adjustment as noted above.

Gasoline prices increase in the U.S. and Canada

Since the July 2013 publication, gasoline prices have increased 1.93 percent in the United States and 1.69 percent in Canada. When compared to August 2012, gasoline prices have increased 3.93 percent in the United States and 4.24 percent in Canada. Because gasoline prices can change rapidly, Xactware recommends users monitor their local costs to determine whether repair or construction costs have been affected. For further details, see the U.S. Department of Energy website.

Comparative prices (national averages) for the last month are as follows:

Pricing feedback
Pricing feedback is one of the ways Xactware ensures that the cost information reported reflects actual market prices. It is highly valuable to both Xactware and you, as a user. Unless an estimate assignment is returned to XactAnalysis (i.e., program work), Xactware does not receive automatic feedback. Estimates written outside program work can return feedback by regularly running the feedback utility within Xactimate, XactRemodel, or XactPRM. To run the feedback utility:

  1. Click Services in the menu bar of the Control Center tab.
  2. Select Feedback and then click Yes.

This will process and package information from all estimates that have not previously been collected via feedback or completed assignments. Your feedback information will be sent to Xactware the next time you connect to XactAnalysis.

Please report any price changes to Xactware as soon as possible. We will then adjust any information that can be independently verified for inclusion in future price list publications. You can submit pricing feedback online or via email to Xactware’s pricing team at:
