Xactware Publishes April 2016 Price List

 — Friday, April 1, 2016 —

The April 2016 price list updates for more than 460 regions in the United States and Canada are now available for download.

A summary of price changes reported in this update is as follows (this percent change is based on the national averages that have been reported since the March 2016 price list publication and from April 2015 to April 2016):

March to April

April 2015 to April 2016

30-yr. Laminated Shingle Labor and Material

Common Drywall Material

Common Labor and Material

Common Lumber Material

Common Material Only

Retail Labor Rates

Pricing research for the April 2016 publication shows that the figures in the Labor and Material report, which measures common material and labor used in claims and remodeling, increased slightly in the United States and Canada when compared to March 2016. This is also true of the figures in the 30-year Laminate Shingle Labor and Material and Retail Labor Rates reports. Figures in the Common Drywall Material report increased slightly in the United States and showed no change in Canada. The Common Lumber Material report did not change in either country. The Common Material Only report increased in the United States and decreased in Canada.

The information reported here is based on a national average, and it is important to note that actual changes will vary within each individual pricing market. It is also important to remember that Xactware’s published pricing information is based on recently completed surveys and estimate transactions.

Local market conditions

Xactware makes every effort to ensure pricing information contained in this update represents market costs at the time of publication. Since actual market prices can vary and change rapidly, and since many factors can affect the cost of a project (including—but not limited to—labor, equipment, and material costs as well as the rates and application of sales tax), we strongly recommend customers monitor their local markets for any such changes and adjust their estimate pricing as deemed appropriate.

Gasoline Prices in the U.S. and Canada

Since the March 2016 publication, gasoline prices increased 15.87 percent in the United States and 7.55 percent in Canada. When compared to April 2015, gasoline prices decreased 15.6 percent in the United States and 9.69 percent in Canada. Because gasoline prices can change rapidly, Xactware recommends users monitor their local costs to determine whether repair or construction costs are affected. For further details, see the U.S. Department of Energy website.

Contents Update

Since the last price list update, the XactContents pricing team continued to improve the master item list in both the United States and Canada. We added general quote items for large televisions (60-69” and 70” and up).

Additionally, we changed some state-specific recycling fees so they are added to estimates automatically without the user adding specific line items. This feature includes the North Carolina White Goods disposal tax, the California mattress recycling fee, and the Connecticut mattress recycling fee. It is available in the Xactimate desktop update SU21, released on March 10th, and in the Xactimate online and XactContents update, released on February 4th.

The California Electronic Waste fee is automatically added when items with a television general quote code are added to the estimate. We understand that this fee will apply to more than televisions. However, since this law applies a different rate to different screen sizes and since the automatic application of the fee is related to the general quote item, we cannot at this time automatically apply a fee to electronics outside of televisions. You may still apply the California Electronic Waste fee by adding the item FECCAEW to the estimate.
