Judging and Installing Cabinets and Countertops
Course 43

About the course

For best results, this lesson should be viewed after taking course 42. This lesson builds on the skills learned in that course and applies them. Several sets of installed cabinets are discussed and their quality determined using the five criteria covered in course 42. The five criteria allow you to make an accurate estimation of the cabinets' quality. The second half of the lesson covers how cabinets are typically installed. Both base and lower units are covered along with some specialty cabinets such as wine racks and spice doors. Cabinet repair is also reviewed with a discussion of which cabinet parts can and can't be easily repaired. With cabinets correctly installed the countertop is placed. A detailed discussion of countertops concludes the lesson including a review of countertop materials, installation techniques, and costs.
