About the course

The second of two lessons covering residential electrical. The lesson begins with a discussion of alternating current electricity then moves to the delivery of electricity to the home through a condenser, drop wire, weatherhead, and main disconnect. Installation of contemporary system using Romex and sometimes conduit are reviewed including the concepts of a home run, dedicated circuits, and wiring switches and outlets. Problems with aluminum wiring are covered as are low voltage wiring for phones, TVs, intercoms and so on. The process of installing rough electrical is discussed including code requirements and typical standards for installing boxes, determining the number of outlets, and locating switches.
