About the course

The second of two lessons covering residential plumbing. Installation of water softeners and water heaters is covered in detail and includes instruction on how both work and are properly installed. Common installation problems are also discussed. The lesson moves to a discussion of city sewer systems or septic systems and how residential systems must properly tie in. This section presents information on how septic systems work and the impact of high-water tables on them. Common problems with both city-sewer and septic system are discussed. A detailed review of drain waste and vent systems follows, including the proper location of vents, different types of pipe used, and the location of vent stacks on the roof. This course ends with the installation of finish plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and faucets.
