About the course

Carpet is the most popular residential floor covering and comes in a larger variety of styles and quality. The lesson begins with a discussion of the materials used to make carpet, the styles of carpet, and other quality issues. Six criteria to use when determining carpet quality are discussed including a review of carpet pad style and quality. Detailed coverage of carpet installation is next and includes measuring and seaming issues, tackless strips, cove, borders, patterns and more. Waste factors to consider when estimating are reviewed and examples of different installation approaches for some sample homes are discussed. Glue-down carpet installation is also covered. The lesson moves to a discussion of tile including the types and styles of tile and common installation patterns and techniques for both floors and walls.
