Verisk Property & Restoration Solutions began as one contractor's software project in a basement in Orem, Utah. Four decades later, its products carry most of North America's property claims, and the promise hasn't changed.
It started with a contractor who hated waiting.
In May 1986, a Utah restoration contractor named James Loveland started writing software in the basement of his home in Orem. He ran one of the state's largest building-restoration firms, and he was tired of watching estimates take days when the repairs themselves deserved that time. The program he built became Xactimate, and the company he founded became Xactware.
Xactimate let contractors and insurance adjusters estimate repairs faster and more accurately than they ever could on paper. The company grew with its customers: by the late 1990s, Xactware was building online tools that moved assignments between carriers and contractors in real time (the network that became XactAnalysis), and by the end of the 2000s, eighty percent of insurance-repair contractors and most of the top property insurers in North America relied on Xactimate to calculate the cost of repairs.
James Loveland passed away in 2005, at 54, after a year-long battle with leukemia. His son Jim, then in his early thirties, took charge of the 183-person company his father had founded. The next year, Xactware joined ISO, which in 2009 became Verisk Analytics: the Orem software company now had the data backbone of a global analytics leader behind it.
In 2014, Xactware moved into a new headquarters in Lehi, Utah, purpose-built for the teams whose products now serve claims professionals across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and beyond. Today those products live under one name, Verisk Property & Restoration Solutions, a platform of products carrying one promise that hasn't changed since the basement in Orem: our best when it matters most.

Aaron Brunko
Aaron leads the teams behind Xactimate, XactContents, ClaimXperience, and the rest of the platform. He joined in 2001 as a technical-support agent and worked through quality assurance, product, national accounts, training, and implementation before serving as senior vice president of claims products. He holds an MBA from the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business.

David Obert
David started at Xactware in quality assurance and worked through product management, quality leadership, and real-estate and financial solutions before serving as vice president of Property Technology Solutions and taking the CPO chair in 2024. He brings more than 20 years of product leadership and an MBA from Colorado State University, and he still ships product alongside the strategy.

Jeff Lewis
Jeff oversees the technology that redefines the platform's estimating capabilities, from migrating large-scale aerial-imagery systems to the cloud to pioneering patent-pending technology for remote and interior building measurement. A Xactware developer since 1997, he leads high-performing teams built on trust, collaboration, and accountability, delivering scalable solutions that set new standards for accuracy in property data intelligence.

Joel Dagenais
Joel brings over 35 years in the insurance industry, from a summer job restoring a fire-damaged lumber store to building First General Services into a 17-office restoration firm across Québec. He has spent 20 years with Verisk, beginning with the Canadian market.

Jason Taylor
Jason leads Pricing Data Services, the research organization behind the localized pricing across 460+ markets that every estimate on the platform draws from, and the methodology that keeps it honest, from market research to Xactimate's labor-efficiency settings. He holds a degree from Purdue University's Krannert School of Management.
